The Farm references
In the area of Gavi wine DOCG, Tenuta San Pietro is one of the historical Farms. Since the 12th century, on top of the hills, there was a Franciscan Monastery and one of the first consacrated churches, named San Pietro. Probably, this gave the name to the nearby area. During the centuries, the place was property of the family Spinola, who built in Tassarolo one of the most interesting castles of their marquisate.
The Farm in situated in an area particulary inclined to the production of “Courteous Grapes”, destined to give a wine linked to the particular geologic features of the soil. Actually, during the Cretaceous period, this area of Piedmont was submerged by the sea and the marine salt is still present in the ground. This element gives wine acidity and tastiness, which distinguish this white wine.
A new property of the Farm has already started some relaunching projects regarding its own production and territory. Among these, the construction of a new wine cellar, which will boast the most modern technology in respect of the traditional local practices and the research of the best grapes.
on the location of an ancient Franciscan Monastery and one of the first consacrated churches, dedicated to the first Apostle, stands the Tenuta San Pietro, the centre of an area of excellence for the production of GAVI DOCG. Our vineyards enjoy the microclimate of this area, treasuring the sea wind of the nearby Liguria, the tuffaceous and clayey soil and the natural shelters offered by the hills. It is a pleasure for us to invite, with the flavor and the aroma, to visit this place, and once you know it, you will come back.
Considerations on Wine Tigullio
December 2006
Best quality level for the four wines, particularly the Gavi. Perfumed, fresh and inviting the San Pietro. Fragrance compound and good backbone Il Mandorlo. GORRINA: of great structure and harmony.
A farm having solid roots with the territory, preserving its ampelography patrimony, proposing wines of certains personality. Great Job, let’s move on this way.
